ABOUT MS IN BIOINFORMATICS


Facing the deluge of the biological data, automatisation of processes must be done thanks to programming languages and algorithmics. The multidisciplinary Master program combines the areas of Life Sciences and Computer Science. The main objectives of this Program is to give to the students an extensive and interdisciplinary training in the actual methodology of bioinformatics and bio-analysis required by the research which are carried out by the public or private sectors in the areas of agronomics, environment, health and pharmaceuticals.
The training program will provide (1) solid theoretical skills on actual biological and bioinformatics approaches and (2) practical skills for designing and achieving individual or collaborative projects in an international context. Students will acquire also new capacities in autonomy and project management.

Face à l'ère des Big DATA des données biologiques, l'automatisation des processus ne peut se faire que grâce à l'utilisation de langages de programmation et à la maitrise de l'algorithmique. C'est pourquoi, le master de Bioinformatique de Bordeaux, France combine les domaines des Sciences de la Vie et de l'informatique. Les principaux objectifs sont de donner aux étudiants une formation approfondie et interdisciplinaire en bioinformatique et en bio-analyse permettant de travailler dans les secteurs public ou privé dans les domaines de l'agronomie, l'environnement, la santé ou l'industrie pharmaceutique.
Cette formation fournira (1) des compétences théoriques solides sur les approches biologiques et bio-informatique réelles et (2) des compétences pratiques pour la conception et la réalisation de projets individuels ou collaboratifs dans un contexte international. Les élèves acquerront également de nouvelles capacités en matière d'autonomie et de gestion de projet.

ARCHITECTURE


The Master of Science in Bioinformatics of Bordeaux, France is a two-year training course composed of three tracks with an English-language international track entitled Bioinformatics and Omics in partnership with the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao, Spain. Le master de Bioinformatique de Bordeaux, France est une formation en deux ans composée de trois parcours dont un parcours international Bioinformatics and Omics de langue anglaise en partenariat avec l'Université du Pays Basque à Bilbao, Espagne. Le parcours intitulé Biologie Computationnelle est particulièrement dédié à la programmation et l'algorithmique dans le domaine de la Bioinformatique alors que le parcours international et le parcours Du génome aux Ecosystèmes sont plutôt orientés vers la bioanalyse et la maîtrise avancée des principaux logiciels de bioinformatique. THE TEAM





Jean-Christophe Taveau

Jean-Christophe works on image processing of cryo-electron microscopy using tomography and single particle methods. In biology, his main project consists of the 3D exploration of bacterial efflux pumps involved in antibiotics resistance.


Marie Beurton-Aimar

Her main focus is related to the development of new methods for analysing the metabolic networks with in addition a specific interest for the simulation based on the use of multi-agents. Other developments include the image processing to investigate, amongst others, biological images.


Raluca Uricaru

Her current research focuses on bioinformatics, specifically on the modeling, analysis, and extraction of biological information from omics data, employing string algorithms, machine learning techniques, and data mining approaches.


Patricia Thébault

Her current research deals with Bioinformatics and biological questions arising from biological networks and sequences. This involves investigations of RNA sequences and metabolic networks. She is particularly interested in using modelisation to incorporate information resources into computational environments.
