Master of Science

in BioInformatics

Bordeaux, France

Programming

Learning a programming language is the keystone for the biology 2.0

Biological Data

Omics data and images are the two main primary inputs for biologists to deal with.

Visualization

Enhancing the biological data by 2D and 3D representations and animations is a requirement in science.

ABOUT MS IN BIOINFORMATICS

Facing the deluge of the biological data, automatisation of processes must be done thanks to programming languages and algorithmics. The multidisciplinary Master program combines the areas of Life Sciences and Computer Science. The main objectives of this Program is to give to the students an extensive and interdisciplinary training in the actual methodology of bioinformatics and bio-analysis required by the research which are carried out by the public or private sectors in the areas of agronomics, environment, health and pharmaceuticals.
The training program will provide (1) solid theoretical skills on actual biological and bioinformatics approaches and (2) practical skills for designing and achieving individual or collaborative projects in an international context. Students will acquire also new capacities in autonomy and project management.

ARCHITECTURE

The Master of Science in Bioinformatics of Bordeaux, France is a two-year training course composed of three tracks with an English-language international track entitled Bioinformatics and Omics in partnership with the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao, Spain. The track entitled Computational Biology is especially dedicated to programming and algorithmics in the field of Bioinformatics while the international track and the track From the Genome to Ecosystems are mostly oriented to bioanalysis and advanced use of major bioinformatics softwares. THE TEAM

Jean-Christophe Taveau

Jean-Christophe works on image processing of electron microscopy 3D data using tomography and single particle methods. In biology, his main project consists of the 3D exploration of bacterial efflux pumps involved in antibiotics resistance. In chemistry, he is also interested in the characterization by cryo-electron tomography of various nanomaterials.

Marie Beurton-Aimar

Her main focus is related to the development of new methods for analysing the metabolic networks with in addition a specific interest for the simulation based on the use of multi-agents. Other developments include the image processing to investigate, amongst others, biological images.

Patricia Thébault

Her current research deals with Bioinformatics and biological questions arising from biological networks and sequences. This involves investigations of RNA sequences and metabolic networks. She is particularly interested in using modelisation to incorporate information resources into computational environments.
